Six L’s of Immokalee FL Recalls Grape Tomatoes Due to Salmonella Risk

Grape tomatoes have been voluntarily recalled by Six L’s of Immokalee, Florida after it was found the tomatoes have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.  The tomatoes involved in this recall were distributed to 10 states and Canada.  The states involved are Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Pennsylvania.  The grape tomatoes were distributed through both retail stores and restaurants.

The presence of Salmonella bacteria was detected at a distributor in New York through a random sampling.  The grape cherries involved in this recall are a product from a farm in Estero, Florida.  The farm has ceased production of the tomatoes since the recall was announced.

The grape tomatoes in question can be identified by a Cherry Berry lot code DW-H in 20 lb. cardboard containers and/or clam shells.  This specific lot was packed on April 11th.  No other tomatoes or produce distributed by Six L’s is involved in this recall.  Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, or call the company at 877-606-1821 ext. 3955 with questions.
