Some people recently were literally sick to their stomachs after having dinner at the Iberia Peninsula Restaurant after contracting Salmonella.
Samples have been taken from the local health department to find out how the illness originated. Their have been 35 total complaints and 5 have been medically confirmed as being infected with salmonella food poisoning. At least 3 were hospitalized due to their illness. Those infected have had symptoms of stomach pains and body pains which are often times typical of Salmonella poisoning.
The local Newark Health Department has sent several of the restaurants sauces and possibly other food products to be tested. All of the restaurant employees are being tested as well to determine whether they are the possible carriers. Since this investigation started, the health department has placed an investigator in the kitchen to monitor food preparation to ensure that everyone is keeping the location clean and to help in determining the source of the outbreak.
We are hoping this is an isolated incident.
